Frederick Samuel Long, age 84, of Moosic, passed away early Monday morning at home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Dorchnic Long, on February 1, 1987.
Born in Pittsburgh on March 14, 1925, son of the late Samuel Henry and Luella Askey Long, Fred had graduated from Pittsburgh Schools and was a Navy Veteran of WWII. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a tool and dye-maker at McKinney Manufactuers of Scranton for over 42 years. Of Protestant faith, he had often attended services with his daughter, Luann, at the Evangelical Free Bible Church in Clarks Summit. Very active, he was an excellent bowler, an avid runner and had a passion for dancing. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #4909 of Dupont.
A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Fred will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children; Luann Little, with whom Fred resided, and two sons; Joseph Benjamin Ross and wife Ann of Fort Myers, Florida, Michael J. Ross and wife Sandra of Mount Joy, a sister, Laura Smith and husband Thomas of Sun City, Florida, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services and Committal Prayers will be held on Wednesday at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. Rob Caminiti, Pastor of the Evangelical Free Bible Church. Interment, Old Forge Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 11:00AM until serevice time.
