Edward Cox, Sr., age 77, a resident of the Taylor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Sunday surrounded by his family, including his wife of 40 years, Margaret McGuire Cox, with whom he shared a room.
Born in Old Forge on April 30, 1932, son of the late Laban and Viola Mae Seig Cox, Edward was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Originally a coal miner, he had mastered the trade of carpentry eventually working for Hanover Homes and prior to retirement, Stacor Corporation in Scranton. He enjoyed watching polka on television and his favorite pasttime had always been fishing. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children; Edward Cox, Jr., and wife Mary of Scranton, Thomas Cox and wife Stacey of Jessup, Katherine Monacelli and husband Robert of Taylor, and Sandra Krulikowski and husband Edmund of Taylor, seven grandchildren; Edward, III, Stacy, Jolene and Ann Marie Cox, Stephanie Kraft, Susan Krulikowski and Jennifer Monacelli, and eleven great grandchildren.
A sister, Georgania Riviello and brothers, Alton and William Cox, also preceded in death.
Funeral services and committal prayers, to be conducted by Rev. Doug Jensen, Pastor of the Moosic Alliance Church, will be held on Thursday at noon in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge. Interment, Forest Home Cemetery in Taylor.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 5-8:00PM at the funeral home.
