Ruth Ann Flynn McBride Dunn, age 87, of Old Forge, passed away Sunday afternoon after a brief stay under the care of Allied Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank McBride, in 1952, and her second husband, William Dunn, on August 19, 1978. Born in Old Forge on June 29, 1922, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Habgood Flynn, Ruth was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1940. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as an aide for Head Start of Taylor. Of Roman Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Roman Catholic Church in Old Forge. She was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She was a warm and loving person who was adored by her family and many friends. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend a sincere and special thank you to the 2nd floor staff at Moses Taylor Hospital and to the Allied Services. Skilled Nursing Center for their kind and compassionate care during her final months. She is survived by her sons; James McBride and wife Catherine of Philadelphia, Thomas McBride and wife Catherine of Old Forge, six grandchildren; Brian McBride and wife Kristen of Philadelphia, Mary Catherine Pelletier and husband Tim of Philadelphia, Ryan McBride of Scranton, Elizabeth McBride of Philadelphia, Ann Marie McBride of Philadelphia and Erin McBride of Old Forge, and three great grandchildren; Kayla, Elijah and Micah McBride, all of Philadelphia. Four brothers; Jonah, John, William and Thomas Flynn and a sister, Louise Allardyce, all preceded her in death. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:30AM from the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge, with a 10:00AM Mass of Christian Burial and committal prayers at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Prince of Peace Parish, South Main Street in Old Forge, to be conducted by Rev. Louis T. Kaminski, Pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery in West Scranton. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday between 4:30-8:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to Prince of Peace Parish (c/o 123 West Grace Street, Old Forge, 18518).
